Daily Reminders

List-Clip1Are you a list maker? The older I get, the more I need daily reminders, whether it’s about errands I need to run, or people I need to contact. If I don’t write it down, it may be next week before I remember it again!

God had something he wanted us to remember for all eternity and he told us to write it down. We find it in Deuteronomy 6:5-8: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”

Love the Lord plaque twoThis passage in Hebrew is called the Shema. It’s a pledge of allegiance and love to one God and it sits over the door that leads to our garage. God did not want us to ever forget to love him with all our heart and He wants us to always remember He alone is our God.

Reminders that draw us closer to the Lord are good.  I have them all over the area where I work and they often give me a faith booster shot when I need one.

Trust in the LordI have a cross that reminds me to trust.

Wise menThree wise men who challenge me to seek Jesus in all I do.

DreamA plaque encouraging me to dream.

Be still crossAnd a cross that tells me to be still.

What daily reminders do you need?

We don’t have to go to our local Christian store to buy reminders. We can tape Scripture on our bathroom mirrors or post God’s word on our phones. I typed up one of my favorite passages, Psalm 37:3-4, printed it out, and framed it. Be creative!Psalm 37

God is a jealous God and He wants us to remember him throughout the day. 1 Chronicles 16:12 says, “Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he’s pronounced.” He also wants us to work on being more like his son, Jesus. That’s why reminders are good.
