Run to Him

Have you ever been through something difficult and it was all you could talk about?

You poured out your troubles to your friends, your hairdresser, your nail technician—anyone who would listen? I’ve been there, but I’ve found that even good friends will tire of our problems if it’s our only focus. Over the years I’ve shared less with friends and more with my heavenly Father because God desires to be our confidante.

Psalm 62:8 says, “Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”

Maybe this is why people don’t seem to care as much about our complaints as we’d like. How many of you go to your spouse, friends or others before you go to God with your problems?  He wants to be the first to hear.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, “Pray without ceasing.”

That means he’s okay if you spend all day and night listing off what bothers you. The arms of your Abba Daddy are waiting with love and are a safe place to be. Today, I challenge you to go to God with your concerns. Get things off your chest with Him, not the random person who will take the time to listen. I promise that your heavenly Father will provide a supernatural comfort that you will not find anywhere else.

I’ll close with a song I wrote last week called “Run to Him.” Try running to Him today.

Run to Him

I was running way too long,

From a life with a broken past.

My spirit had a different song.

I was headed down, way too fast.

But then I met the God who knew

My pain, intense and oh so great.

He saved me from my sin and blues,

His blood redeemed a different fate.

I run to Him—I see the prize.

His glory shines before my eyes.

I run to Him the One who saves,

I run to Him, the One I crave.

I run to Him.

I’m tired of doing things my way,

I give my heart to God this day.

The light no longer fades to Dim.

His passion overflows the rim.

I run to Him. I run to Him. (LBW)
