The Best Way to Manage Change
Our son popped in from college this weekend. The problem is, we didn’t know he was coming home for the long weekend so we had to adjust. He didn’t bring his car so we gave up one of ours. My wash load doubled as there were only dirty clothes in his suitcase. And even though he’s now twenty-one years old, I still worry when he stays out late.
This was a minor disruption in our schedule but sometimes there are big changes, right?
Like most people, I’ve been through my share of it.
Moves.
Job changes.
Church changes.
Loss of loved ones.
Friends have come and gone.
None of it was easy.
What change have you experienced lately?
When we go through inevitable change, we can be thankful that God is never changing and a constant in our lives.
Revelation 1:4 says our Eternal Father is “the one who is and who was, and who is to come.”
Change is more difficult; however, when we don’t cling to the One who is our Rock. When the earth is moving below our feet we need to run to God, not away from him. We should hold onto Him for dear life so he can carry us through the instability.
In every major change that I’ve experienced, I am grateful for my Sovereign Heavenly Father. I don’t know where I’d be without His loving hand guiding me through life’s passages.
So if you are going through a change right now, don’t let go of God who loves you through every transition. Spend more time with Him as you maneuver the change. He’s there before it, in the middle of it and when you emerge from it.
“See I am doing a new thing, don’t you perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:19).
