FLOAT
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
It’s funny how life changes. When we first looked for a home in North Texas, it was important to me to have some kind of pool in the backyard. I love water, and I find it is one of the few things that totally relaxes me.
However, when we first used the pool, our sons were younger, and there was no relaxation whenever we got in the water. Instead there was an intense pool basketball game that I was always recruited for. Worried about losing a tooth under the basket, I settled for playing point guard and attempted to launch long bombs to score. Occasionally, one would go in!
I would not trade those memories for anything, but nine years later, with one child now out of college and the other disinterested in family pool time, the pool is now the refuge I imagined it to be. Even if it’s just for thirty minutes, I float and relax. While my water-loving dog often threatens the quiet time, I am still able to steal a few minutes of total peace, weightless, listening to the babbling fountains and the birds chirping above.
I find that in life I am also learning to float more, what about you? Instead of striving and worrying, I am giving my struggles, my battles and my projects over to God, and trusting him to handle them.
When you think of the word FLOAT, remember this: Fully Lean On Abba Today.
In what areas do you need to lean on your Father in Heaven?
I have seen great results when I give over ministry projects, family matters and my own cares to him.
It feels like floating.
As Christians, Jesus inferred that we did not have to strive when he said, “My yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:30)
When King Jehoshaphat had to go up against the Moabites vast army in battle, the LORD said to him, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15)
What battle do you need to give over? Where in your life are you striving too hard? It’s time to fully lean on your Heavenly Father. FLOAT.

I love this and totally agree!! And of course you would point me to the 2 Chronicles verse I’ve been looking for all weekend! Heard a sermon last week by Tony Evans and he referenced this battle and in that book but I didn’t know where it was – thanks!!
