When God Shows Up in a Big Way by Lisa Mick

The heavens declare the glory; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; and night after night they display knowledge. Psalm 19:1-2

Father’s Day was spent with my family  in the Great Smoky National Park in Tennessee.  Little did I know I was going to receive such a gift from my Heavenly Father on His day.  The amazing respect for my Abba Father has grown ten-fold in the last year because I am now looking for Him every second of every day.

I have realized he is “it.”  I’m in awe of the beauty he’s created here on earth.  He has gifts all around us.  Are you looking for those gifts He only brings?

A few years ago I began writing a joy journal. If you have not written a joy journal, I am pleading with you to do so.  Looking for God’s gifts every day changes your perspective on life.  Joy fills my soul because of all the treasures he’s opening my eyes to.

I witnessed some of those treasures on our journey through the Smoky Mountain Park.  As we drove through the winding roads of the park, we saw the beauty of massive petrified rocks perfectly placed alongside streams that carved their way through the mountain. How could this artistic masterpiece be created by anyone but God? It gave me such joy to witness this piece of heaven on earth so it was the entry into my joy journal when we returned to our hotel that night.

But you don’t have to go on vacation to come up with something to write in your Joy Journal. When you start being aware of God’s presence in your daily life, you will begin noticing every gift he has placed on this earth for you.  When you wake up in the morning, just ask him to reveal Himself to you before you walk out the door. For me, I receive joy when I see a lizard, a butterfly or a redbird in my backyard. We should never take God’s creation for granted.  He’s provided this slice of heaven on earth for you because he loves you. Write it down!
