A Happy Ending

I’m a romanticist and love a happy ending! My favorite all time movies are classics like “Sleepless in Seattle” and “When Harry Met Sally.” I remember the first time I ever watched “Frosty the Snowman.” I cried when old Frosty melted because I didn’t know the rest of the story. When Frosty came back to life, let’s just say I was satisfied.

However, during our lifetime, not everything ends happily. Trials occur, sickness weakens and relationships sever. God never promised our lives would be easy. In fact it says plainly in John 16:33 that “In this world you will have trouble.”

Many times our troubles are allowed to draw us closer to God. I think of the Laura Story song, “Blessings.”

Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops. What if your healing comes through tears? What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know you’re near?

My most difficult days were also the stretches of time where I found myself feverishly pursuing God’s presence. I wanted to know he was near. What about you?

While we may experience trouble in this world, some more than others, there is hope. God writes a happy ending for anyone who believes in his son, Jesus Christ.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17.

An unhappy end in this world is not the end of a believer’s story! Eternal life with God is written on the final page. That is worth celebrating!

No matter what you may be experiencing now, remember that God loves you so much that He has provided a happy ending for your life. Isn’t it nice to know the rest of the story?
