Called by God by Mayada Naami

This weekend, at Gateway Church, Pastor Tom Mullins preached a powerful sermon called “a Father’s Calling.” He said there are three truths we need to identify with and speak over our children.

1. We are called.

2. We are loved.

3. We are kept.

In Christ, we discover who we are and what we are living for. Our true identity lies in our identity in Christ. We are called to follow His example and walk in the same way in which He walked. We are to model the love of Jesus to those around us. When you live surrendered and submitted to the Lord, He guides you by the Holy Spirit that is indwelling in you. Because you are called, loved and kept; the Good Shepherd is always with you.

For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.

(1 Peter 2:21, ESV)

We are called to follow Jesus and live a life according to His perfect will for us. Philippians 1:6 tells us, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Every Christian has a calling on his or her life. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God gives us spiritual gifts to aid us in our calling. By walking closely with the Lord, we discover our call to serve and glorify Him in His Kingdom. As we develop sensitivity to His voice, He will reveal to each of us what our God-ordained purpose is and He will bless us when we obey and surrender to His calling on our lives.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”

(Ephesians 1:3-NIV)
