His Eye is On Us

Have you ever moved to a new city and not known how to get around? When I made the transition to North Texas, almost a decade ago, it took me twice as long to get to the grocery stores because I didn’t know the more direct routes, which navigation didn’t help me with. I remember how delighted I was when, months in, a friend told me about the back way to Target, one that took four minutes verses the much longer roundabout way, I was going. So much quicker and an “aha” moment!

We can be directionally challenged in life as well. Some know immediately what to do, or which way to go, but for many of us without a strong spiritual gift of discernment, we need God’s GPS.

Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.”

Gods-eye

When I think of God’s eye upon us, I think of the days when my children were little, and I always had one eye upon them. One time, when my I took my oldest to a large amusement park, I stopped to let him play on a playground there. For some reason, he thought he lost me, and I watched him find a nearby policeman and begin to describe the situation to him. I didn’t let this go on too long. When I walked over to tell him I’d been there all along, he ran up to me and hugged me, relieved.

Aren’t we relieved that God has an eye on us, and won’t let his children go too far down the wrong path before stopping us?

directions

The key is to not venture in the wrong direction in the first place.

To do that, we have to seek God’s wisdom and navigation daily. If you don’t naturally have the gift of discernment, ask him to make your path clear, and to give you numerous confirmations about the place he wants you to go.

In my case, I’ve been praying about which book to write and for continued confirmation on what ministries to work, with besides my own. I began a book for the fatherless over ten years ago, and never completed it. Two other books jumped in front of it. However, in the last two weeks, I have encountered five different people who lost their father, either before birth or in their early years. I see that as a confirmation from God. I have no doubt where my writing is headed.

What do you need God’s GPS to tell you? Is his navigation system turned on through prayer, reading the Bible, and Godly counsel?

God’s has one eye on us and an eye on our future. His vision is far greater and wider than we can comprehend. If we ask him to guide us, he will, because he Word says he guide us. Wont you plug into his GPS today? (LBW)
