Our Reality
So we’re a little behind.
Over the weekend we watched the 1999 movie Edtv. You may remember it. A cable channel decides to document the life of a video store clerk, Ed Perkurny (played by Matthew McConaughey). The only privacy Ed has is behind the bathroom door. Otherwise, every move he makes is out there for everyone to see. Who would have known back then that Reality TV would be the norm today?
While I am not a fan of this type of programming, the truth is we all participate in something similar.
As Christians our reality is that we are never alone. God is watching us 24/7. The good news is our actions aren’t broadcast to the rest of the world. The bad news is we might not always want to have our lives in God’s plain view.
Regardless of whether this is a positive or a negative for you, be encouraged that God sees your pain.
He understands your brokenness.
He desires to help.
2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”
When you are weak, he will dispense the strength you need.
He hears your prayers when you feel hopeless.
“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer” (1 Peter 3:12).
Our prayers don’t fly into the atmosphere and disintegrate. They are hand delivered to the throne of God. Isn’t that encouraging? God has the power to turn around what appears to be a lost cause.
Do you fear God?
Do you believe he loves you?
If so, Psalm 33 says God’s eyes are on you and will deliver you from death and keeps you alive when we you are famished. I don’t think the Psalmist is just talking about food when he says the Lord will keep us alive in famine.
Perhaps you are famished spiritually.
Famished in love?
Famished from a lack of normalcy in your life?
Empty.
Dry.
We cannot run from God. He is omnipresent and sees it all.
He is waiting for us to ask him for help because he desires to lather us with his mercy, love, and healing.
And that’s our reality.
