I have a sobering question to ask you?  On a scale 1-10 how would you grade your prayer life?  Do you find yourself praying on-the-run or only when you are in a crisis?  For me, I find that number varies.  When I am going through painful situations or circumstances I am on my knees a lot and that number is much higher than when I am not. But this should not be the case!  The scriptures instruct us to “Pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 NIV.  Does that verse say all? Yes, I believe it does.  All!

What a wonderful privilege we have to go before our Father in prayer but what an incredible responsibility – especially as parents, grandparents, friends and leaders in our businesses, churches, ministries, and communities.  There is absolutely no substitute for prayer!  With our busy lifestyles, though difficult at times, a disciplined daily prayer life is one of the most important habits we can develop.

Do you know who Anna was in the Bible?  In Luke 2:36-38 you’ll read she was a prophetess.  “She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four.  She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.”  Anna’s daily commitment to prayer was incredible.  Indeed, Anna is a role model to us.  I look forward to meeting her one day in Heaven.  And I love how God blessed Anna for faithfulness. She was in the temple when the child, Jesus, was brought there to be dedicated.

To be alone with God in prayer cannot be over emphasized. Even thought schedules may be busy and erratic this summer with family, friends, and vacations – and as our children and grandchildren get back to school, covet to get alone with your Heavenly Father daily.

Did you know . . .  there is only one thing that is impossible with God?  It is impossible to believe Him in vain.

The Word of God tells us this:  “You will find me, says the Lord when you seek me with all your heart.”  Jeremiah 29:14.   Seek His face – not His hand.  Press into the heart of God today and be blessed beyond measure.

Will you make a decision to not look into the face of another person each day, until you first look into the face of God?  And do remember the prayer that never fails . . . . “ May Thy Will be done.”

I’ll meet you at the Throne!

In His Love,

Sharon Hill
