The Things Unseen by Lisa Burkhardt Worley

Peter Pan “The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.”  That’s a line from one of my favorite childhood movies, Peter Pan. I was Wendy, hesitant at first but curious enough to venture with Peter Pan to see a world unknown, the things unseen. While Wendy eventually grew up and was too old to travel with Peter Pan when he returned to her house, I’ve never lost that spirit. I am still curious about the things unseen, even now that I am all grown up.

As we mature in our faith, God is holding his hand out to us, wanting us to travel with him to the things unseen.  He’s wondering if we are willing to let go of the control over our temporary lives here on earth to show us a part of his world. When referring to God Daniel said, he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness and light dwells with him. (Daniel 2:22)  When speaking about the holy spirit, John says, But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13) We all want to know what the future is.  God is saying, he’ll tell you directly, if you take a leap of faith towards him.

One of my former pastors once said that heaven could be one atom over. I believe it and have had enough experiences lately through our Pearls of Promise ministry to cement that concept. As I attempt to remain obedient to God and in the center of his will, there is confirmation of what is to come through various means, whether it’s through others prophesying over us or through repeated direct revelation. I am finally letting go of the control of my life and allowing God to lead me into his world, one atom over.  It’s exciting.  What about you, do you want to go there with me?

To borrow another line from Peter Pan, “All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.”  I think Peter Pan got it right on at least two counts.  When we have faith and trust in God and let him rule our lives, the unseen world opens up.  We experience more divine appointments, we know when things are right or wrong and there is no denying our path in life. But when we doubt, that is when we cease to be able to do it.  Do you want to fly with God? Take his hand and believe!
