The Trust Waffle

Do you waffle when it comes to trust? Do you begin to doubt God’s plans for you when things don’t happen fast enough?

I was recently encouraged by a woman to quit doubting my call to ministry.  Even though the Pearls of Promise Ministry has been given many blessings, she knew I was beginning to waffle because doors to speak weren’t opening fast enough. I’m sure all of you Type A’s can relate that when we work extremely hard and our plans don’t go as we envision them, we begin to question the plan.

However, God has been giving our Pearls Team message after message that the Lord is at work. During our most recent trip to San Antonio, numerous speaking possibilities emerged out of nowhere.  A woman, who we did not know, came up to us and promised that doors are being opened that we don’t even know about. Just because we don’t have visible proof God is working, doesn’t mean he is not.

We have to remember God does not move at our pace.  He moves at his pace.

Often, we see others traveling faster than we are and we get frustrated. But the word says, Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. (Hebrews 12:1-2)  Fixing our eyes on Jesus doesn’t mean we compare ourselves to others or get down when our life doesn’t prosper as fast as another. Our race belongs to us individually and no one else. We need to keep our gaze on the only one who can guide us, Jesus.

It’s tough to trust God and let go of the control we think we have over our future but that’s what the Lord asks us to do. If God has given you direction, then stop wavering during the waiting periods or when the progress is slow. Many times it’s those stretches of time where our faith is built up.

Because trust is an issue for me, I have many reminders around me to trust.  This is my favorite passage that sits next to where I work: Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

What area is your trust waffling in?
