Why We Need to Trust God’s Timing
Contract Pending.
The sign in front of our house was a welcome sight after seven months on the market. When we started the process, we never dreamed it would take this long. The last time we sold a house was eleven years ago, and it took only one week to get an offer.
I’m embarrassed to say that by the fifth month on the market, the ugly came out in me. I grumbled every morning as I got up, even earlier than usual, to make sure the house was in perfect condition before I left for the day. I became impatient with God, and our real estate agent. “Why aren’t you bringing the buyer, Lord?” We love our beautiful home, and couldn’t understand why someone else wasn’t loving it as well.
But we prayed for God’s perfect timing, and this past week, after what seemed like a never-ending drought, he brought two offers in. And the people who are buying it seem to love the house as much as we do.
We have to believe it’s God’s perfect timing.
Sometimes perfect timing takes time.
I hate that about God’s timing.
We pray for it.
We attempt to trust him with it.
But then, when it goes over our self-imposed time limit, we get antsy.
We begin to think God is punishing us for some reason.
We walk around in defeat.
And our joy goes out the window.
Why can’t we trust God no matter what the circumstances are?
I don’t have the answer to that, except today, as I look at what happened this week, I think, “This had to be of God.”
Why didn’t I just relax during the process?
When we don’t get the lesson the first time, God always gives us another opportunity to take the test.
Pending an inspection, we think we’ve sold our house, but we don’t have a new house to go to.
Oh boy. Another faith walk.
Will I trust him with the rest of this journey?
Will I trust that we will be placed exactly where he wants us to be?
Will I trust that our perfect house is simply not ready yet?
What about you?
What situation are you needing to trust God in, even though all the details are not revealed?
Let’s do this together. Let’s be confident that we have a good, good Father who wants the best for us. Let’s lay our situation at his feet, and see what he does.
And then, let’s wait expectantly.
I Thank you for the encouragement. The time is running out for me and don’t know which way to turn. I trust God and let God do his thing even though I don’t understand it all.
Lorraine,
I am praying for you. Praying the Lord will resolve whatever is going on in your life. Blessings, Lisa
