How to Have a Heavenly Facial

waiter

Our waiter glowed.

We stopped at a El Fenix off IH 35 to get a bite to eat and the young server radiated so much light, we needed sunglasses.

After wondering through half our meal, I finally blurted out the question, “Are you a Christian?”

“Yes ma’am, I am.”

Then I asked him to share his story. A former drug addict, this angel of a young man was once in serious trouble. He was imprisoned for repeated drug use and was expected to continue this pattern of behavior, learned from his father who was also in prison. But one day in a dark alley, when an inebriated man pulled a gun on him, he realized this was not the legacy he wanted to leave. Miraculously, the young man escaped the situation and on his way home, another man shared the Gospel with him and he accepted Christ. He became a new creation in Christ and the 22-year-old has been free of drugs for four years.

And now our born again waiter is so thankful for his salvation that he worships the Lord throughout the day, even in the kitchen preparing for a busy night in the restaurant.

That’s why his face glowed.

We can all shine like this.

Isaiah 60:1 says, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.”

But we have to worship God and spend time in his presence to receive this heavenly facial.

After Moses spent forty days fellowshipping with God on Mount Sinai, the Bible says his face was “radiant” (Exodus 34:29).

Psalm 67:1-2 says, “May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us—so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.”

When we shine, our appearance contrasts the world and it begs the question, “What is different about you?’

By radiating God’s glory, the fire in us is so bright that people want to know our stories.

Do you want to shine? Do you want others to ask you about the hope you have?

Then spend time in God’s presence every opportunity you get. In the morning over coffee, in your car, at work and at play. Worship him while cleaning the house.

Then when you meet that stranger who needs encouragement, they may look at your glowing face and have the courage to ask, “Are you a Christian?”
