A Fifteen-Minute Miracle by Lane Jordan Burday
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need (Matthew 6:33).

I’m sure you have heard or read the verse above. In fact, I’ve read it so much that it can easily pass over what the real thought of the message is. But this is the great truth of this verse: If you and I seek God first, every day and above everything else, God will give you everything you need.
How simple! Yet do we seek God first? The fifteen-minute miracle is when we start every day with God.

Since God created you and the whole universe, why not let Him help you build your day? It’s like having a personal time set up with the most brilliant mentor the world has to offer—and God is!
However, I do know that wanting to do this and actually stopping your life to spend time with God first is hard. Therefore, discipline and a desire to be in God’s presence must come into play. I read from a counselor who said he “received more positive progress from helping my clients fine-tune their early morning routines than from any other single lifestyle adjustment. What you do first thing in the morning sets the emotional tone for the entire rest of the day.”

I know those with small children or a job with tight schedules can make this difficult. However, we can always get up fifteen minutes earlier or find a time that works. But starting your day with the Creator of your day is that important. Great things in our lives come from hard work and sacrifice. I promise it is the best use of your time. Minutes invested in praying for wisdom will save days spent on overcoming mistakes.
Another verse calls us to be quiet before the Lord, and it’s one I cherish and have memorized. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know I am God.” What a blessing to stop our busyness and just focus on the God of the universe, who has “engraved your name on the palms of his hands!” (Isaiah 49:16).
If you and I invest just fifteen minutes each morning in preparation for the day, it will add up to seven-and-a-half hours in the first thirty days and around ninety hours in a year. That is for sure a Fifteen-Minute Miracle.
