identity-crisis

Many well-intended people live with an identity crisis. They either seek acceptance, or feel rejected. When a person feels rejected, it is a sense of being unwanted, abandoned, and unloved. Even disappointments must be resolved, or they lead to other issues and may cause the individual to lash out at others.

Who doesn’t desire people to love them?

Who doesn’t want acceptance or to be part of a family?

Those who feel rejected live life on the outside, instead of within.

People often live with the wounds of betrayal and shame for years; which produces the feelings of not being wanted or accepted. Their spirit is crippled and crushed because of great difficulties they experienced in their life. They listen to the lies of the enemy who tells them God does not love them. Therefore, they remain in bondage.

However, God wants to give them first-hand knowledge to understand the truth behind their feeling of rejection. They cannot control what others do, but they can control how they respond to what they do. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Look at when it happened, and forgive the offender. Forgiveness is an acceptable choice, and when they forgive, their life takes on the characteristic of Jesus. What opened the windows to rejection? How should rejection be treated?

Rejection is an inside job. A person living with rejection is anxious and pulled in different directions. This behavior creates worry, and worry strangles and can cause some physical consequences. Rejection can cause neck pain, ulcers, headaches, back pain, depression, and other negative elements. Rejection has a major way of affecting the way you think.

If anybody had an excuse to feel rejection, it was Paul. Paul was alone when he faced the burdens of the church and the many responsibilities of his own. He even faced the possibility of death. Instead of submitting to rejection, Paul took the time to explain to us the secret of victory over rejection. In Phil 4:4-7, he told us to “Rejoice in the Lord always. I say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” People realized that God offers them acceptance. “He has made us accepted in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:6).

If you are struggling with rejection, take time, carefully think, and gratefully pray that God helps to release you from this curse and walk into victory. God loves you just the same way he loves his Son, Jesus.

Change takes time. Therefore, do not rush the relationship with yourself to others who have rejected you. God wants you to have a yielded heart to his love and will for your life first. Then it is time to reshape your future by asking God to provide victory through the power of the Holy Spirit within you.

The damage on the inside is causing too much pain, but remember, our beloved God will never reject you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. And he wants to lead you down the path to healing.
