Do You Love Life? By Lane Jordan Burday

You make known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand (Psalm 16:11)

There is a famous saying about life’s desperation: “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation,” written by Henry David Thoreau in his 1854 book Walden. Another common idiom is “Desperate times call for desperate measures.”

When I read these, I want to cry. These thoughts make life seem so sad! It sounds like people hide their pain behind daily routines and work, and most accept a boring or hard life instead of trying to follow their true dreams.

Do you and I merely breathe and survive, or are we truly living life? Perhaps too many women are just surviving without experiencing the fullness of life that Jesus planned for them. Is this what God had planned for us when He created mankind? Not at all.

That’s what Pearls of Promise is for—to show women that there is another type of life God has for them! That each one of you is a miracle, and God created you to have joy and to have it abundantly.

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). Jesus said this, and it is truth. I’m not saying that your circumstances are going to be perfect. But that during trials, Jesus is holding your hand and giving you a joy that makes all the hard parts manageable. Jesus will give you such a peace that you won’t be able to comprehend it at all! (Philippians 4:6).

A while back I went through the worst trial of my life. I thought I would end up almost homeless. But one day, while praying, peace descended on me that I can’t explain to you, but from that point on I knew everything would be fine. I didn’t know how that would happen, but I knew God was holding my hand and would take care of me. And He did. I will never forget His loving peace He placed on me.

God wants you to find a good life: “Whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord” (Proverbs 8:35). But the key part is whoever finds God! Have you received Jesus into your heart and soul? Do you walk daily with the Lord, praying to Him and reading His Word? So many people reject Him, and I want to say, “But He is the One who will give you a new life!”

You make known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand (Psalm 16:11).

God is the way to the life you want, and He will give to you all that you need.

When you decide to ask Jesus into your whole being, then you will be able to do this:

I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being (Psalm 146:2).

You will be able to sing because you will be living a life of great joy instead of a life of desperation. I know some of you right now reading this are going through a trial. Please don’t go through it alone. God wants to walk with you, comfort you, and give you joy in spite of your circumstances. And guess what? He can!!!!
