Mountain Movers

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you” (Matthew 17:20).

The snowstorm looked massive and according to the radar it was headed straight for the DFW metroplex. I was supposed to speak in Irving within a couple of hours and I knew if it hit, the speaking event would be affected. So I prayed boldly, “Father, you say with faith we can move mountains, so I am asking you to move this mountain of snow away from the area.”

I got ready, believing in the power of the Word, and went to my speaking engagement. There was no snow before. No snow during, and no snow afterwards. In fact, sunshine broke through the clouds. Once the luncheon was over, I had an opportunity to look at the radar, and saw that the white mass of snow had dissipated, as if it never existed. Why was I surprised?

With faith, we can move mountains.

This week, we were in San Antonio for another ministry luncheon. This time, heavy rain was in the forecast. It had rained all night, and more rain was expected during the day. While I knew we needed rain, I prayed again, believing God could provide a window of sunshine for the luncheon, so the weather wouldn’t present an obstacle. I wanted people to hear the speaker’s powerful testimony.

It turned out to be a beautiful day. The sun poked through the clouds, providing perfect weather for the event. Later that night, the rain came down in buckets.

With faith, we can move mountains.

What mountain needs to be moved in your life? Half the battle is believing God is powerful enough to transform a situation.

Elijah

We need to have faith like the prophet Elijah, who prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain for three and a half years. When he prayed for rain, it fell from the heavens, and the earth produced crops again.

We need to pray with authority.

We need to pray with unshakeable faith.

We need to pray, knowing God can heal, if he chooses.

James says, “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:15-16).

Powerful.

Effective.

Are those words that describe your prayer life?

God wants us to have faith when we pray, because with faith, we can be the conduit for the Lord to work in miraculous ways. He is waiting to do the impossible in our lives.

Through him, we are mountain movers. (LBW)
