One Word for 2025 by Lisa Burkhardt Worley
I cry out to God Most High. To God who fulfills his purpose for me” (Psalm 57:2)
I like to pray every year for a word from God to act as a theme for the year and He is always faithful to provide. This year, through repeat messages, my word is “purpose.” And I believe God is saying “I created you for a purpose. Now walk in that purpose.”
This week, I became Dr. Burkhardt Worley. It still seems surreal, but the title came after four long years of hard work and study at The King’s University. I was called to this advanced degree for a purpose. Everything I learned was for a purpose, and now the degree will help me to fulfill that purpose. I believe my purpose is, in the final quarter of my life, to fight antisemitism through our documentaries, television shows, “A Bridge of Love” page, and soon to come, “A Bridge of Love” website. While I still want to help women through Pearls of Promise, there is a running theme of fighting injustice, and helping people overcome past wounds. This is smelted together into a more complete purpose.
What is your purpose?
Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.” It does not matter how old or young you are. This is a wonderful Scripture to pray over your life: LORD, show me your purpose for my life and fulfill that purpose through me.
While God reveals a new purpose in our lives, there is one purpose that supersedes all purposes, and that is claiming our place as a child of God. It is a call to love Him and to love people as He loves us. If we don’t do that, any call on our lives or purpose will fail. Jesus said the following verse was the most important of all commands. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength (Deuteronomy 6:5, NIV). And the one like it is to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:39).
Do you feel like you have a purpose? What is your word for the year? I would love to know.

My word for 2025 is Gratitude! I decided on the word a day before my daughter gave me a Gratitude journal – she had no idea that I had chosen Gratitude as my word.
That is cool, Karen. God works like that so you know it is Him.
