The Exercise Bike

Can I let you in on a secret? My husband was given an exercise bike for his birthday.  He thinks it’s his bike, for his enjoyment or torture, depending on how you look at it. However, I am benefitting from his gift in an amazing way! Shhh….don’t tell him I think his present is for me as well.

After the new bike was delivered this past week, I hauled my praise music upstairs, opened up the blinds so I could see God’s beautiful creation and began to sing and praise God for thirty minutes on the bike’s “fat burner” setting. It was a special time alone with God, letting him know how much I loved him and appreciated his direction in my life. Before I knew it, I had run the course on the stationary bike and already looked forward to the next block of time.

We don’t have to earmark church for our praise and worship of the Lord. We can praise him while exercising, we can praise him while driving and we can worship him while doing mundane tasks at home. When I need to clean house, I crank up the praise music to make the process more enjoyable!

Psalm 100:4 encourages us to: Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. Before we ever seek God out with our prayer concerns, we need to praise him first. Plug praise into our GPS and it’ll navigate us right to God!

The creator of the universe deserves our praise. Will you take the time today to tell him how great and magnificent he is?
