The Path Unseen by Lisa Burkhardt Worley

Do you feel like you are at an impasse in some area of your life—without options?

This past week, I was on what I believed was a mission from God. By faith I traveled to New York City to cast a vision for a women’s conference to reach the arts community, a vision that God had planted in my heart.

The actors, television veterans and worship leader I met with were all supportive. I knew I had a conference team, but the church venue I felt led to did not work out as planned. The leaders there were gracious and probably would have hosted us for free—a year ago—but they were making plans to move out of their longtime home and would be renting space themselves by conference time. I was disappointed.

Real estate in Manhattan is extremely expensive to rent. Another church we checked into was well above our budget and I wondered if we would ever find something that would work. I began to sink in this “walk on the water” experience.

But after I returned home, the Lord took me to Psalm 77:19 during my quiet time: “Your road led through the seas, your pathway through the mighty waters—a pathway no one knew was there!”

This verse is speaking about the time that God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites to escape the Egyptians, who were pursuing them. It was a road they never dreamed would open up. Who could ever imagine a sea parting to create a path on dry land? It would be like the Gulf of Mexico parting so we could walk from Texas to Florida.

After reading this I realized that God does not put us to shame. The One who calls you is faithful and still works miracles. There is a venue that I don’t even know about yet, but He knows, and He will reveal it to me at the right time. He just wants to see if I will trust Him to part this Red Sea in my life.

What about you? Do you feel defeated? Are there closed doors everywhere you turn? Trust that there is a path yet unseen and at the right moment, God will lead you to it.
