Who Are You? By Lane Jordan Burday

We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago (Ephesians 2:10 NLT).

Yes, no matter who you think you are or what others think of you, the God Who created the entire universe says you are His masterpiece! An original masterpiece, handcrafted by the Creator of the universe.

It is hard to wrap your mind around, I know. Looking back on my childhood, I was smaller than anyone else. Sometimes the neighbor’s kids wouldn’t play with me because I was too small. I also couldn’t speak properly and had to go to speech school. And I was very shy.

But when I heard about Jesus, He performed a miracle in my life. I felt so loved, so cared for, and I knew He was with me every day. Knowing I was loved, regardless of what I did or how I looked, changed me.

I also read in the Bible that I am important! Forgiven, a new creation, protected, unique, and created for a purpose.

I’m writing this to you today because I feel someone out there doesn’t think she’s good enough. Well, you are! My husband, Scott, and I have been watching American Idol this season, and the most beautiful and talented woman, Brianna, described herself as “just a housewife”. No one is ‘Just’! Carried Underwood stopped that negative thought and told her that no one is just a housewife. Your true self-worth is based only on what God says about you, not on how you feel about yourself or what anyone else may say.

However, remember that you must do the work of believing in God and what He says. It’s time for you to see yourself as a child of the almighty God.

When you remind yourself of your true identity, you will find it much easier to live by the joy and peace that God gives you.  How you perceive yourself sets the ceiling for what God can do with you.

My prayer for you today is that you discard any negative thoughts you may have about who you are and what you can achieve. Give all of these to God and let Him direct your path!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take (Proverbs 3:5-6).
