You are An Evangelist! by Lane Jordan Burday
Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness. Let the whole world know what He has done (Psalm 105:2 NLT).

I am passionate about sharing the Gospel (the Good News) of Jesus Christ! This makes me an evangelist. An evangelist is a person who proclaims the Christian gospel with great zeal and purpose.
This was actually Jesus’s last request as He ascended to heaven, to everyone according to Matthew 28:18-20:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

But what is so exciting is this means that whether you are a homemaker, a doctor, a secretary, a journalist, a pharmacist, or a farmer, you are an evangelist. You are to proclaim the Gospel! Your workplace is just a field which He provided for you to witness in.

The important part is that the Gospel you preach is the good news: Jesus is the Savior, He died on the cross for your sins, and you were bought with the blood of Jesus. And the whole world needs to hear this!
But I know what you may be thinking. I don’t know how to share Jesus. I’m scared of being laughed at. I’m afraid of the rejection.
I understand. But Paul wrote that he is never ashamed of the Gospel because it saves people and keeps them from going to hell.
So, start small at first. At the grocery store or when dropping your children off at school, just say, “I hope you have a blessed day.” or “God bless you.”
You will not believe how many people this blesses! Many times, they will then say, “Oh, thank you, I’m having a rough time.” Which may lead you to ask to pray for them.

Or, if you meet a new neighbor, just ask, “Do you have a home church yet? If not, I’d love to invite you to mine.”
Again, so many people just want to be asked.
Each of us has the same job: to share Jesus with as many people as we can. The time is short.
I pray you will proclaim the Gospel and bring God’s light into this dark world!
