Your New Year’s Assignment

This week my Bible study lesson asked if we’d ever written a song of praise to God and suggested we try it. I have occasionally composed songs, but it had been a long time. I thought, Wouldn’t it be nice if we all started the New Year off by singing our own personal, handwritten song of praise to God? You don’t have to be a poet or a professional writer. It doesn’t have to be perfect.  I believe all that matters to God is that it comes from the heart.

You can write a song about your life, like I wrote, or a song of praise for what has happened in the past year. Psalm 96:1-2 encourages us to “Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.” God loves for us to sing to him!

Are you ready? If you pen a song of praise to God, we’d love to feature it on The Pearls of Promise website. Send it to: lisabworley@pearlsofpromiseministries.com. In the meantime, here’s the Christian country song that I wrote about my life:

Daddy’s Girl

by Lisa Burkhardt Worley

You saw me from a distance.

Your heart went out to me.

A child who knew no father,

Who needed love so free.

You asked me to embrace you.

To lay my life in your hand,

And ever since that day I knew,

When weak I’d always stand.

 (CHORUS)

 I’m a daddy’s girl.

The apple of my Abba’s eye.

His love is so complete,

He holds me when I cry.

I’m a daddy’s girl.

I never need to fear,

Because my Abba walks

With me throughout each passing year.

I’m older now but I still need

A dad to guide the way,

When troubles come, I know to go

To my father who will say:

Dear daughter, don’t you worry,

I have your life on my road map.

And then I trust my Abba dad

And crawl into his lap.

(CHORUS)

I’m a daddy’s girl.

The apple of my Abba’s eye.

His love is so complete,

He holds me when I cry.

I’m a daddy’s girl;

I never need to fear,

Because my Abba walks

With me throughout each passing year.
