Cracking the Nutcracker by Dawn Ezelle

The nutcracker was invented around the 17th century and is one of the most famous wooden crafts to hail from Germany. Its popularity grew in the 19th century and became synonymous with Christmas time decorations. In German tradition, the dolls are symbols of good luck and believe to frighten away malevolent spirits. A significant proportion of modern nutcrackers are decorative, and not able to crack nuts.

In German folklore tradition, a nutcracker protects families and brings good luck. They gifted it to children at Christmas. When I was a young girl, Marshall Fields and Company, in downtown Chicago, was the ultimate Christmas destination. The storefront windows sparkled with decorative garland, moving ballerinas, lights, candy canes, trains, trees, and the nutcrackers. It was a winter wonderland walk on Michigan Avenue as nutcrackers appeared in the malls, hotels, stores, and eateries. These wooden structures have become the Christmas protectors.

Now let’s us explore the nutcracker story to help us understand God’s greatest gift of the Christ child, and His eternal kingdom. The real home protector for your family is the Holy Spirit instead of the nutcracker. He will bring divine blessings to those who will believe. Some people believe you purchased the gift. While others know that the Holy Spirit comes with a price tag, “Not For Sale.” You can only receive the Holy Spirit gift through your faith and prayer. The Holy Spirit has seven hidden gifts that are: wisdom, understanding, counsel, courage, knowledge, reverence, and fear of the Lord.

The Holy Spirit serves as God’s divine overseer on earth. He desires and works to impart the life of Christ in His people. You can only receive eternal life through the Son of God.

The mystery of the Holy Spirit is unknown to the folklore of nutcrackers. Those who accept Jesus in their hearts as born again believers will receive the power gifts of love, light, and life.

You can have the Holy Spirit. Pray this simple prayer with me. Say out loud, Dear Jesus, I’m a sinner. Forgive me for my sins. Come into my heart. Wash me, cleanse me, and fill me with your Holy Spirit. I believe Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I believe Jesus arose again and seated in heaven with Our Heavenly Father. I believe I am born-again. Amen.

If you prayed this simple prayer, welcome to the family of believers. You are now a born-again, saved Christian. Let us know if you prayed this prayer or email prayer requests to: info@pearlsofpromiseministries.com

God Bless You!
