Evil Chases Us by Lane Jordan Burday
Evil pursues sinners, but to the righteous, good shall be repaid (Proverbs 13:21).

This is a hard concept to grasp, but as long as we are in this world, evil will be at our heels like Pharaoh’s army chased the heels of the children of Israel as they chased them at the Red Sea.
That Pharaoh wanted to kill and destroy his former slaves. The ‘Pharaoh’ of this world also wants to kill, steal, and destroy, and he will not easily let go of his slaves—for if you live in sin, you are a slave to the enemy.

This verse helps explain how the devil works: “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour” (I Peter 5:8). I highlighted the word may because it’s a word of permission. Satan has permission to devour all those who serve sin because they are his slaves.
That’s an unpleasant thought!
How can we stop him from affecting our lives? By putting the Lord God between us and its grip, and that’s what ‘salvation’ means.

When we ask with our heart, our mind, and our actions for Jesus to come into our lives (being born again), we are removed instantly from the kingdom of darkness. We no longer serve sin, and so evil has no legal right to pursue us, because we are no longer sinners! We have been made saints by the grace of God and His Holy Spirit, who now lives in us, and we are in a different kingdom—one that will last forever.
But what happens when we ultimately sin, which all people do? We immediately ask for forgiveness! And then we get back to walking with God. It’s a daily walk, but one that God promises will give us the greatest joy, love, and peace one could ever experience!

I so pray that if you have never asked Jesus to come into your life, please do so today. It’s very simple to do! Here is a great verse to show you how:
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
That’s it.
For when your heart believes you are cleansed and when your mouth professes your faith, you are saved.
What a gift God gives us!
