Go With the Flow by Mayada Naami

“‘But you, mountains of Israel, will produce branches and fruit for my people Israel, for they will soon come home. I am concerned for you and will look on you with favor; you will be plowed and sown, and I will cause many people to live on you—yes, all of Israel. The towns will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt. I will increase the number of people and animals living on you, and they will be fruitful and become numerous. I will settle people on you as in the past and will make you prosper more than before. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

(Ezekiel 36:8-11, NIV)

Do you feel like you are paddling upstream, fighting through resistance? The world tells us “No pain, no gain” but that is not truth. God did not create us to paddle upstream. He created us to be like a stream going down a mountainside, flowing gracefully, finding our way around obstacles until we reach our destiny. We are so free that we can choose not to be free. We can choose to go against the current— against the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In Scripture we find water is used as a symbol of the Spirit of God. Water signifies the receiving of the Holy Spirit, the cleansing of the heart.

“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.”

(Ezekiel 36:25-27, NIV)

Jesus told the woman at the well in Samaria that He is the One who gives life-giving water to those who have a spiritual thirst. The Creator did not create us to be in bondage. He created us to be free from sin and in relationship with him. The original sin separated us from Him and we are given free will to return to Him. There are three things in the fallen world that lead to bondage:

  1. Craving-attachment to things or people
  2. Fear-running away from your dream or destiny
  3. Ignorance- lack of clarity or wisdom

Attachment leads to fear which leads to ignorance or bondage. Clarity is wisdom that only comes from trusting the Creator of the universe. Trust Him with all areas of your life and believe that He is the Way and the Truth, and you will enjoy well-being and abundance. You will flow down the mountain of life gracefully and reach your final destiny peacefully.

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.

(Revelation 21:6, NIV)
