From Glory to Glory by Lisa Burkhardt Worley

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Life is full of ups and downs and sometimes there are seasons of hardship that seem like they will never end. However, looking back I understand how God not only pulled me through the difficulties, but he also revealed Himself during the trial. Most times God was glorified because in my own power I could not fix it, change it, or manipulate it. It took the LORD’s supernatural abilities to correct a situation or turn someone’s heart back to Him.

The Billy Graham Training Center defines God’s glory as the “visible manifestation of God’s attributes and His character.” As God works through our problems with us and in us, he is revealing something about himself, as well as making us more like Him. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” While we may not see God’s glory in our lives daily, we have to think back and hold onto the last time He was glorified through a situation we endured. For those of us who are getting older, we should recall the numerous times we have seen God’s glory and know that He is faithful to lead us through any difficulty we face and that we will see his glory again. From glory to glory. This requires a combination of both trust and faith.

The Apostle Peter understood how God reveals his glory in the midst of trials. In 1 Peter 4:12 he states, “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.” Aren’t we all overjoyed when we see God’s hand in a trying situation? The next time we struggle, let’s say with confidence: Thank you, LORD, for I know I will see your glory as you draw me out of this hardship.

How have you witnessed God’s glory in your life? What attributes did you learn about Him through your trials?
