You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your mind; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24
The Christmas season is a time to reflect on the true purpose of Christ’s birth and all that His Presence gives us. It’s also a time to reflect on our purpose in this life and how we should live if we choose to walk with God.
In addition, it’s a time to focus on being holy. The word holy does not mean goody-goody; it means set apart for sacred use. Quiet moments in God’s Presence accomplish this within you. As you and I focus our minds and hearts on Him, we are being transformed—re-created into the person God designed us to be. We must do all we can to set time aside for communion with our Lord.
Yes, Christmas time is rushed and relentless in all it requires. But if you could just take some time with Christ, the benefits are limitless. Walking in the light of God’s presence increases emotional and physical healing. We can experience a nearness to God that strengthens our faith and fills us with Peace. And God will give us that inner calm and strength to help us in any situation.
And Peace is why Jesus came to us. Yes, to save us from sin, but to give us His Peace and Joy while we live on this earth.
And one day, we will be with Him! Seeing all His Glory and Holiness.
“One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple (Psalm 27:4).
