How to Pour Out Your Heart to God

Soaking prayer.

I was confused about what this was one day when I attended a Soaking Prayer Service. I really thought it was like a renewal of your Baptism and there was actual water involved.

Would I be lowered into a vat of water while I prayed?

Would someone pour water on my head?

I fully expected to change clothes after the experience.

But as we began to sit still before the Lord and the music played, the Holy Spirit moved. By the second song, out of nowhere, I was soaked with tears. That is when I realized God was pouring out his spirit on me as I poured out my heart.

With Valentine’s Day approaching, ask yourself,

“How many times have I poured my heart out to God?”

Psalm 62:8 says, “Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”

What personal trial are you going through today? What better place to go than to your loving Father’s arms where you can pour out your heart?

That’s what he desires.

Heart and watering can

Do you drench God with your love for him?

While Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came in with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. “She broke the jar and poured the perfume over his head.”

That was the woman’s way of pouring out her love on Jesus. She gave him the most valuable possession she had.

While we can’t physical touch Jesus right now, we can do it with our words. We can gush with words of praise, with heartfelt words of love for our heavenly Dad.

Valentine’s Day is Sunday. Will you consider writing a valentine for God pouring out your heart to him? Will you thank him for what he’s poured out for you?

His love.

His Spirit.

His Son’s blood so we might live.

Pour out your heart to God and tell him what he means to you. Here’s my attempt.

Thank You Abba

When I am weak, you are strong.

When I am down, you give me a song.

You’re a friend who I share with every day.

You guide my life’s path so I don’t go astray.

You’re my dad who I love.

You watch from above.

You transform my desires

To something much higher.

Thank you for caring for

  this broken little girl.

For without you I know

My life would be a swirl.

You’re the rock at my feet,

So I don’t live in defeat.

You pour into my soul,

So I reach a divine goal.

 Thank you, Abba,

for all that you do.

You give my life purpose.

I can’t imagine living without you.

Yet you are conscious of me every minute.

You own the whole world so provide all my needs.
When I talk to You, Your Son intercedes.

When trouble comes, You are there to give aide.

When I am weak, I only need ask.
Your strength is sufficient for every task.
When I can’t see how a plan is succeeding,
You know the future. I’m glad You are leading.

When I fail and everything has gone wrong,
You cheer my heart as I sing a praise song.
As my tears wash away all of my sorrow.
You give me hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Thank You so much for sending Your Son.
Knowing Him has made our relationship fun.
There is no way that I could ever say
