Leaving Things Undone; Undone by Karen Hauser

cleaning stuffAs I look around my house today, I see that I have left some things undone. The floors are a mess. Our furniture seems to have taken on an “antique” look in the last week.  Okay, month.  I really notice it when the sun comes in late in the day and shines so brightly showing off every fuzz ball and “life track” that has made their way into my home.  I have two choices; I can clean the floors and dust the furniture, or just close the blinds that let the sun in!  Hey, if I can’t see it, the dirt is not there! “I’ll clean house tomorrow,” I tell myself.  So no worries!
We all have those things that we will do tomorrow.  That’s for sure. And, there are times that it’s ok to put off tomorrow what should be done today.  It seemed to work somewhat for Scarlett O’Hare!  But, since I don’t even live in Hollywood, California nor have I been in a movie such as Gone With the Wind, I need to face reality. So I ask myself if what I’m doing today is what I’m supposed to be doing today.  Am I making the most of my days and those that are part of my days?  From God to family to friends to random people we encounter each day; do we give them what we should?  Or, do we leave some things undone?  Hugs not given or prayers not prayed?
God gives us all such beautiful opportunities if we look for them. He has designed our days and I know when I listen to Him completely, my days are awesome!!  Leaving things undone when you know God has given you direction can be a bigger burden than just doing what he asks.
Now, I’m not suggesting that my house has to be spotless all of the time.  Trust me; my entire family has survived quite well with a mess here and there.  But, I do want to be a good wife and Mom and try to at least keep the health code met.  But, God also knows how busy my days are.
Matthew 11:28 says; “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens and I will give you rest.”
Amen to that!!  The beautiful thing about our Father in heaven is that we can come to Him anytime about anything.  If I start my day, earlier than the rest of the house, in the word and ask God to help me put the events of this day in proper perspective so that I can do the best with it I possibly can, He always honors that.
I may not get everything done, i.e. I may close the blinds on occasion, but the day will be successful according to the Lord. I feel with all of my heart that God wants us to do the best we can with what we have every day.  It’s our intention he is looking at. If we give our all, He will give us the rest!
Some of you are facing much more serious matters than a dirty house.  You may be trying to find a job, take care of a child that is sick or having trouble with friends.  Your marriage may be very strained for many reasons. There is definitely much more month left at the end of your money and that doctor’s report may have been the exact news you did not want.
Don’t leave undone things undone.  Follow through.  Stay on top of it.  Don’t close the blinds to these situations.  It will not help.  God promises that if we seek Him we will find him.  I don’t know how much clearer a promise He could give.
He knows our trials and needs.  He loves us and will be there for us.  So, if you have a prayer, confession, request that has not been said, or just need him and have not gone to him yet, don’t leave what’s undone, undone.
Romans 8-37 says: “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us!”
We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ!  Did you hear what you just read?  We are more than conquerors!!!!  We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!  He is mighty and faithful to those that love him!
Let the SON in your life and you’ll see that things are alright!!  No need to close the blinds and leave anything undone!!
Father,
We see the dust, the dirt, and the troubles.  You see the opportunities to come in, stand beside us and help us do what needs to be done.  You are such a wonderful, beautiful Lord.  Please help us to see what needs to be done for your glory today so that nothing is left undone.  Lord, if we miss it, please allow us another chance tomorrow.
Thank you for your grace, mercy and love!
Amen
