The Holy Project Manager

OverwhelmedLife can be overwhelming at times.  As I plan out two retreats and a women’s conference, I am borderline anxious.  While I know this feeling is not of God, it makes me realize how big and amazing God is when I have trouble juggling three large projects.

Yesterday, as I prayed for the Lord to give me his peace and order in the midst of this ministry work, I realized how awesome God is and how creature-like I am.  God has the capacity to manage billions of projects without blinking an eye.  The help he provides me with my work is miniscule to what he does for believers around the world. God is the chief Project Manager!

When we feel overwhelmed by whatever life tosses us, we need to remember to seek the Lord’s hand.  He never intended for us to do life alone.  When we attempt to handle our problems without His help, we are in a sense making ourselves a mini-god.  He did not design us to take on our daily work without his guidance and direction.

The Bible gives us numerous verses to lean on when we feel life is taking its toll on us, no matter how worthy the work is. You can remember Psalm 142:3:

When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn.

Isaiah 40:28: Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.

Isaiah 61:2: From the ends of the earth I call to you,  I call as my heart grows faint;  lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

AMEN!  When we feel like we are drowning in our to-do lists or trials here on earth, we need to grab onto the rock higher than us, Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 says, The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.  That means if your work is a part of his plan for your life, you should not stress out about it. It will get done through the power of Christ working in and through you!

Last night, when I gave all of my ministry concerns to the Holy Project Manager, the result was amazing.  I felt less stress and renewed energy. He laid out exactly what I needed to accomplish and there was no anxiety involved.  For this girl who usually gets heavy eyelids around 8:00 p.m., I was still joyfully working at 9:00 p.m. The one who is faithful DID IT!

When we get into these days where we find ourselves tensing up and unable to relax because of so many loose ends to tie up, we have to stop and seek out the Holy Project Manager. We have to remember He manages scores of lives and knows the best way to accomplish the tasks He’s called us to.

I am thankful to the Lord that I have Him to guide me in this way.  I’d be lost without Him.  What about you?
