Who Causes the Tornadoes? by Lane Jordan Burday
Behold, a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people and they died (Job 1:19).

A friend in my Bible Study shared a new resource that she is using as part of her quiet time. It is available on YouTube and is titled: “2BeLikeChrist.”
These are 5-minute devotionals on the books of the Bible, and the author covers the entire Bible.
Today, I listened to the first chapter of the book of Job. Job is probably not a book most of us read, but it is one of my favorites because of Job 38:4, in which God asks Job:
“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?”
When I read these verses, I want to fall to my knees before God, because He is God. We don’t know how He created anything, and to follow Him, we must also trust Him with all of our heart.
As the author of the site discussed verses 13-19, we see that horrible acts of nature occurred, rendering Job without his animals or family. God had permitted Satan to attack Job, but what caught my attention is that Satan uses the wind and fire from heaven to do his dirty work.

Yes, Satan is the Prince of the Air on earth (Ephesians 2:2), but after reading this again, he is also the author of the horrendous tornadoes and hurricanes that harm our planet.
Last night we had multiple sirens go off. Tornadoes had been sighted and were right by my neighborhood. The weatherman said to go into your interior closets NOW! I’ve never been that close to a possible one. And yes! Prayer was lifted to heaven. God heard because we were all kept safe.

I’m sharing this story about Job and our closeness to an almost disaster because so many people blame God for the destruction that falls on the earth. But it is not caused by Him, but by Satan, who will one day be thrown into the Lake of Fire.
Yes, God has the power to stop whatever Satan wants to do, but I believe God wants us to call on Him in prayer!
We will never be able to understand the ‘Why’s’ on this earth. But we can know that God is holding our hand throughout it all and will never leave us. My prayer to you today is for you to call on the name of the Lord, every day, and have Him guide you through whatever comes into your life.
