Your Destiny Awaits by Lisa Burkhardt Worley

I have learned to loosen the grasp on my life. It doesn’t mean I don’t pray for concerns, but I now realize that forcing a situation or my agenda does not work in God’s economy and will not bear fruit. Instead I lay my life before God and pray I don’t venture down a path not of him. I look for repeat messages about my direction that are difficult to ignore.

Today, I am thinking of all the paths I’ve taken that were not on my radar like going to seminary, starting a ministry, doing a TV show and now finding myself back in school working on a Doctor of Ministry. I would have never attempted any of these things if I had been relying on my human thought process. None of them were/are easy.

If we allow Him, God will show us our future. Psalm 73:24 says, “You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.” The Hebrew word for “glorious” here is “kabod” and it has many meanings: honor, glory, dignity, majesty, splendor, shine, magnificence, radiance. So if we insert these definitions to describe our destinies, God wants to lead us to a destiny that gives both Him and us honor, that is dignified, majestic, has splendor, shines, is magnificent, and radiant. I want that type of destiny, don’t you? It’s a destiny that reflects God’s glory to others.

So today, trust God with your life. Sometimes the direction he chooses for us might not have ever occurred to us, but take the first step into the unknown—it will be glorious.
