Filled With His Love by Lisa Burkhardt Worley, D.Min.

What would we do without love?

The Earth would be a sour place full of grumpy people who could never say anything nice about anyone. Aren’t you glad that God invented love and the wonderful feelings that come with it?

There are many people in my life whom I love, but my heart bursts when I spend time with my grandson. He is so much fun, and I love watching him learn and grow. His hugs are more precious than the finest piece of jewelry. What or who makes your heart overflow?

But our spouse, our children, and our grandchildren are a tiny aspect of God’s abounding love. Psalm 119:64 says, “The earth is filled with your love, LORD…” That means everywhere we look, God has sprinkled His love: the trees, the flowers, the sky, and the sweet pets that become part of our families. His love created the rivers and oceans, and when I see a cardinal in the backyard, I am immediately reminded that God created wildlife out of His love for us. He wants us to enjoy creation’s beauty.

There is no greater love than the love of God! He loved us so much that He sacrificed His Son, Jesus, so we might dwell with Him forever. His blood covers our sins and when we believe in Jesus, we are adopted into God’s family.

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. (1 John 3:1).

For this fatherless child, the love of my Heavenly Father is everything. What about you?

To end this devotion, I wrote a short poem about the Father’s love. I hope you feel God’s love through these words.

Filled With His Love by Lisa Burkhardt Worley

Sometimes when love feels distant, I turn and look around.

God’s love is everywhere. In the sky and on the ground.

His love fills the Earth. His idea from the start.

You see it in creation; the design is from His heart.

The Earth is filled with Your love.

We praise You.

You pour out Your love.

We thank you.

Your love is everlasting.

It is constant and unfailing.

While human love can fail, Father’s love will never fade.

He heals the brokenhearted, and there’s a new serenade.

He gave His only Son for a hope that never rusts.

It’s God’s enduring love that we can always trust.

The Earth is filled with Your love.

We praise You.

You pour out Your love.

We thank you.

Your love is everlasting.

It is constant and unfailing.
