Do You Need Directions? By Lane Jordan Burday
He leads in wisdom. He leads on straight paths (Proverbs 4:11).

Do you remember in the ‘olden days’ when we had large, paper maps to show us how to drive to a new destination? And if you could fold it back the way you received it from the gas station, that was a miracle?
Now we have the great invention of GPS! I don’t know how I survived without it, but I did have mounds of directions printed on paper that I would save to use again.

What I love about the Lord is that He is our guide for our trip on Earth. He has already given us a map. It’s the Bible, and if we keep reading its pages and if we stay connected with God, our path will be so much easier.
I love these verses:
“He refreshes your soul. He guides along right paths.” Psalm 23:3
“The Lord will guide you always. He satisfies needs.” Isaiah 58:11
“God instructs and teaches you. He watches over you.” Psalm 32:8
“The Spirit of truth comes. He guides into truth.” John 16:13
But God doesn’t just want to be your GPS. He wants a relationship with you! God reaches down from heaven for you. All other religions make you reach up, and, hopefully, you might make it.
But when we spend time with God daily, His guidance becomes stronger and easier to hear. That’s because God has sent His Holy Spirit to speak truth to us and will guide us to what is the very best in our lives.

What should you do to get this guidance? Keep as close to God, your Guide, as you can. Daily read His map—the Bible—and talk with Him all throughout the day. Then, when He leads you toward a path, obey Him.
My hope is that you will take the time in your life to walk with God and listen to His directions. He knows what is best for you. And His love will never change even if you turn the wrong way. He will bring you right back to Him when you call on His name.
