What a Creator We Have! By Lane Jordan Burday

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s mind…” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

I just got home from a two-week vacation to Alaska. It is so beautiful; there are no words to fully describe it. I have lived in Colorado, so I already know how fabulous mountains are. But in Alaska, there are so many mountains and so much space! It goes on and on, beauty upon beauty.

There also aren’t very many towns, and the ones we visited are very small. A good part of the summer workforce is just seasonal, but I talked to many who live in this cold and harsh land all year, with only a few hours of light a day.

I wondered why? But their answer was the same. “It is just so magnificently beautiful, peaceful, and full of nature.”

I believe that’s why God has so many verses on the beauty He has created. The verse above explains one reason God created such beauty – to give us a glimpse of His eternity!

In Romans 1:20, God explains why creation is so beautiful: “For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made so that people are without excuse.”

In other words, once we walk in nature and see all the animals, plants, waters, along with the sun, moon, and stars, who wouldn’t believe in God?

“O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures” (Psalm 104:24).

And another favorite verse from Psalm 19:1:

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.” This verse highlights how the vastness and splendor of the natural world serve as a direct reflection of the Creator’s power and beauty.

I truly felt these verses while touring Alaska. I felt so close to my Lord in all His vast creation.

And the Psalmist felt close to God too. In Psalm 121:1-2, it famously asks where strength comes from and immediately declares that true help originates from God.

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”
KJV

This week, take time to go outside in nature, take your shoes off, and feel the grass, the warmth of the sun on your skin, the sight of the trees and flowers, and hear the birds sing.  You will feel instantly calmer and closer to your Lord. Pray to Him, bless Him, and thankGod for all He has created!
