Stewarding Our Gifts by Lisa Burkhardt Worley
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. (Romans 12:6, NIV)
God has graciously given us all gifts and abilities but are we utilizing and managing them well?
I always tell everyone I am a content creator. I create content for our documentaries, TV shows, blogs, books, or curriculum. However, being gifted in an area can have its downfalls. There is a lot of content that can be produced, and I cannot do it all. I must stay close to my Heavenly Father, so I know, definitively, what projects to take on.
We are responsible for stewarding our gifts. This is a double-edged sword. While we can over-extend by taking on too much work, we can also fail to do what God has instructed us to, despite repeated messages from Him. Where do you stand?
The key is to wait to receive our marching orders from God. No matter how good a suggested project looks, I will always tell the one pitching the idea that I have to pray over it. If the Holy Spirit tells me to do it, I am all in! In John 5:19, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does” (NLT). In the same way, we shouldn’t take a step, unless the Father directs it. Let’s determine if a project is part of God’s plan for our lives. Otherwise, it will be a tedious task and we will not enjoy it.
How has God gifted you? Has He been telling you to do something that you keep putting off? It is our responsibility to steward our gifts well.
