But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life (2 Corinthians 2:14-16).

Around the world, different plants emit such beautiful aromas that when you walk by them, the scent stays with you.

Such is the shrub that grows in Sargodha, India, where the exquisite perfume of the plant brings beauty to its ugly surroundings and stays with you.

In Romania, there is a certain valley where nothing is grown but roses for the Vienna market, and the perfume of that valley in the time of the rose crop is such that if you go into it for even a few minutes, wherever you go the rest of the day people know you have been there.

As believers in Christ, we are His pleasing aroma; we should spread His truth and love to the world to those who do not know of His redeeming love. We are to receive this aroma of Jesus and pass it on to others. God is ready to manifest through us the power of His knowledge in every place we go.

But, to those who don’t have Christ, we have the aroma of death. What a calling for us to share Him so those perishing will come to have new life!

Shouldn’t this give us the strength to witness? Yes, it can be hard to share Christ with others, but if we can remember that we already have Him in us and God’s power, we can stand strong in sharing our wonderful Savior!
