There’s a Song for That by Onyx Conklin

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17).

As long as I can remember, music and I have always been best friends. I grew up on country music but as I got older I took in just about every genre of music I could find. Every song told a unique story, caused me to feel an assortment of emotions, and helped me to process my own feelings. I could slip my headphones on and escape to an island with Jimmy Buffett, ride a horse with George Strait, have Valentine’s Day with Journey, or scream long in anger to Metallica—all without leaving my bedroom. Music seemed to understand me and no matter what I was going through, there was always a song for that.

When I began following the Lord, I got introduced to Christian music. The sound and the lyrics were definitely new to me and not a type of music I gravitated toward at first. But the first time I stood in the middle of an auditorium listening to worship music, I was definitely a fan.

The Bible says in Zephaniah that the Lord not only delights in us but He sings over us, some translations even says that He sings loudly over us. We were made to worship, not just with Christian music but with all of who we are. God wired us to love Him and He loves us far greater. Music is a reminder of His love. So today whether you are reading from the book of Genesis or listening to the band named Genesis, I pray you will take time to thank Jesus for all He has done in your life. Sing of your love for Him often, there’s always a song for that and if not, you might just write it yourself. Live and love at full volume!
