Waiting on God
Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. Isaiah 64:4
I’m sure you remember as a child the unbearable waiting for Christmas morning and seeing all that ‘Santa’ and others brought you! In my family, my parents spent so much time and energy giving us a beautiful Christmas morning and I still have so many fond memories of that special day. But it sure was hard to wait.
In this hectic world, no one wants to wait. And why should we when everything is accessible right at our fingertips?
But God doesn’t work in our lives as the world does. He has a plan for each one of His children, and the timing of this plan is always perfect. His plan was perfect when Jesus was born: “But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law” (Galatians 4:4).
God has a perfect plan for you too and it will come when the time has fully come. We must learn to be patient and wait on His will.
So, to understand God’s will, we must take time to be still in His Presence so that God can strengthen us. Strengthening us for the wonderful path He has planned for you and me. Remember, too, that the busier we become, the more we need this time set apart for our Lord. Please don’t look at this time with God as a luxury you cannot afford. It’s a time we must set apart so we can wait on Him and have the strength for the journey He has for us.
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
And when we have an unhurried pace of living, we will stand out in this rush-crazed world. We will be a light that we will reflect to the world watching.
“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” (Psalm 27:13-14).
