Fountain of Life by Lane Jordan Burday
For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light (Psalm 36:9).

A few years ago, my husband and I took a trip to St. Augustine, Florida. Did you know it’s the nation’s oldest successful European settlement in the United States? Colonial America began in St. Augustine, 55 years before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock and 42 years before Jamestown was founded!
The area was first explored by Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513 (and later settled by Pedro Menendez de Aviles in 1565). Legend claims he sailed to the New World partly to locate a magical spring that would restore his youth; in fact, he spent most of his life searching for this treasure.

If you visit the city today, you can visit the Ponce de Leon Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, which features the actual water Ponce de Leon believed was the fountain of youth he had been looking for. The area has a long history spanning nearly 500 years and covers 15 acres.
However, we all know there is no such thing as a “Fountain of Youth”! The Bible tells us that “Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures…” (Psalm 90:10 NIV).
When I read the verse above about God being our fountain of youth, it made me think of all the people in the world hustling and running toward their own version of the fountain of youth—money, power, fame, material items, etc.

What a joy we have in this life that we already have the fountain of youth! If we have Christ in our lives. We have all the wealth of God, and, even better, we will live in eternity in the golden city of heaven, where we will have everything we could ever want.
Don’t spend your life searching and fighting for what you think may satisfy you. Come to Jesus and let the Power of His Holy Spirit fill you with so much joy, peace, and love that you will never want for anything.

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). Don’t rely on any of the world’s tricks to make you go down the wrong road. Call unto Jesus to save you and give you abundant life!
